The direction of time is defined by increasing entropy. ‘After’ and
‘before’ only differ in this: in ‘after’ there is greater entropy.
Memory is always material; it is the journey of material objects
along the direction of time, the journey of radiowaves through
space. The monuments are here to signify the rise of entropy. Memory
exists in stone, magnetic fields, on skin, in fragments of phrases
printed on paper. In the end, there are electrons shot on a

phosphorescent surface.
